Man gets death for killing pregnant wife in Netrokona
A Netrokona court has sentenced a man to death for killing his pregnant wife.

The incident dates back to 2016 when convict, Md Showab Mia, strangled his wife, Shilpi Akter, at their home in Borshikura village in the northern district.
Netrokona District and Sessions Judge Rasheduzzaman Raja announced the verdict on Sunday while Showab in dock.
Showab and his wife engaged in a quarrel on Apr 26, 2016 over Showab’s addiction to gambling. At one point, Showab strangled Shilpi, who was expecting a baby, as per the case dossier.
The victim’s brother started a case against Showab the next day. Showab confessed to court after being detained.
The court indicted him after police filed chargesheet in the case in July the same year.
