Amzad Hossain Nahin, the headmaster of Reraiderchala Alhaj Dhonai Bapari Memorial High School, was working as an assistant secretary of the Maona Bahumukhi High School exam centre when police arrested him on Saturday.
Sreepur Police Station Sub-Inspector Mahmudul Hasan told bdnews24.com that descriptive math section of the paper was found on him during a search when he wanted to go out of the centre after the multiple choice question or MCQ test ended.
“As he failed to provide any satisfactory answer, we informed the secretary of the centre and the Upazila secondary education officer about the matter,” the SI said.
Md Shahjahan, the secretary of the centre, said they immediately suspended Amzad from this year’s exam duty.
Sreepur Upazila Secondary Education Officer Saiful Islam said they served Amzad with a notice asking him to explain the incident and handed him to the police.
The SSC exams this year are being held with the same question papers across the country.
As question paper leaks continued in SSC exams after the leaks in last year’s PEC and JSC exams, the authorities took extra measures to stop recurrence of leaks, but the menace continued on the social media.
The government has also offered Taka half a million in cash to anyone who can lead to the arrest of the question leakers.
Facing widespread criticism, Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has blamed the teachers for leaks and issued firm warnings against the malpractice.
“I can’t imagine what will happen to them (leakers). We’ll take extreme action,” he said when the SSC exams began on Feb 1.
