4.2 magnitude earthquake hits northern Bangladesh 

A mild earthquake has rattled the northern districts of Bangladesh, with its epicentre in northwestern district Natore, 135 kilometres from Dhaka.

The magnitude 4.2 tremor occurred at 8:15pm on Tuesday, weatherman Mostafizur Rahman at the Seismic Monitoring Centre of the Meteorological Department told bdnews24.com.

He said the epicentre of the quake was 3 kilometres deep. 

bdnews24.com correspondents in the districts adjacent to Natore said people in their districts felt the tremor.

On Jan 20, a magnitude 4.6 earthquake struck India’s Assam, 30km from Bangladesh’s Kurhigram border, jolting the adjacent districts also.
