Four dead, nine injured in bus-truck collision in Sylhet

Four people have been killed and another 10 injured after a bus with 30 people on board collided head-on with a truck on a Sylhet highway.

The incident was reported from Rashidpur Shatmail neighbourhood in South Surma Upazila of the eastern district.
 
“Around 7am Monday, the bus, with 30 people on board, was heading back to Sunamganj from the Biswa Ijtema (in Tongi). It slammed into a truck coming from the opposite direction due to reduced visibility from the fog,” said South Surma police OC Khairul Fazal.
 
Abu Bakkar, 50, Akbar Ali, 50, and Abdul Gafur, 45 died on the spot.
 
Locals rushed the injured to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College, the OC said.
 
Another victim died at the hospital.
