“Responding to the overwhelming popular demand, the High Commission of India, Dhaka is pleased to extend the last date for submission of online applications for the ICCR scholarships 2018-2019 by one week, up to 5pm on January 27,” it said in a statement.

The first deadline expired on Saturday.

India, whose foreign policy spans from creating a conducive environment for growth to improving relations in South Asia, draws large number of students and young working professionals in the private and government sectors from across the world and trains them in the selected institutions every year.

The ICCR is one of the many ways. It offers more than 200 scholarships every year for Bangladesh. The Indian government has so far given 3,000 scholarships to Bangladeshi nationals.

Under the ICCR scheme, meritorious Bangladeshi nationals wishing to pursue undergraduate, postgraduate and PhD level courses in India for the 2018-19 academic session can apply.

The scholarships do not apply to courses in medicine. Applicants must also be 18 years old by July 2018.
