About 300 students of seven colleges gathered at the New Market intersection at 11am.

They left the streets at 2pm after DU Vice-Chancellor Prof Akhteruzzaman arrived on the scene and assured them of meeting their demand.

Traffic ground to a halt around Azimpur, DU campus and Science Laboratory and BGB headquarters during the protests, said ADC Nazir Ahmed Khan of Lalbagh Zone Police.

The students urged the authorities to publish the results of second-year final exams under the 2014-15 session, arrange exams for third-year students and publish an academic calendar for the seven colleges.

Students of seven colleges affiliated with the University of Dhaka blocked streets for three hours on Thursday to press for the announcement of exam results.

“They are yet to publish the results of the exams that were held in January last year,” said Sarder Ismail of Kabi Nazrul College.
“They have not printed any academic calendar for the seven colleges. We want the VC’s intervention in these matters.”
The students took out a procession at 10am and gathered at the New Market intersection at 11am. Prof Akhteruzzaman arrived on the scene around 1:30pm.
The authorities will try their best to publish the results by Feb 25, he told the protesters.
“We will have no choice but to wage a tougher movement if the results are not published by Feb 25,” Kazi Nasir, a student of Dhaka College, told bdnews24.com.
Dhaka University is in charge of conducting admission tests and set curriculum and examination routine for these colleges.
The education ministry affiliated the colleges with Dhaka University in February last year.

Students of seven colleges affiliated with the University of Dhaka blocked streets for three hours on Thursday to press for the announcement of exam results.

The colleges are Dhaka College, Eden Mohila College, Government Shaheed Suhrawardy College, Kabi Nazrul College, Begum Badrunnesa Government Women College, Mirpur Government Bangla College and Government Titumir College.
Last year in July, Titumir College student Siddiqur Rahman lost his eyesight after being hit by a teargas shell lobbed by police to disperse a crowd of demonstrators.
The students of the seven colleges had gathered at the Shahbagh Square calling on the authorities to arrange their exams.
Students of DU demonstrated outside the VC’s office on Monday demanding cancellation of the affiliation of the seven colleges with the university.
The DU students were facing troubles because of the decision, they said.
