They were picked up from the port city and Fatikchharhi Upazila early on Thursday, said Kotwali police OC Jasim Uddin.

A dispute following ‘teenage ego’ led to the murder of Adnan, Chittagong Metropolitan Police Deputy Commissioner Shah Mohammad Abdur Rouf told bdnews24.com after initial interrogation of the suspects.

The five are grade-12 students of Hazera Toju College Moyeen Khan, Sabbir Khan and Muntasir Mostafa, Abdullah Al Sayeed, who passed HSC examinations from Islamia College last year, and Holy Flower School SSC tests candidate Eklas Uddin Arman.

Ninth grader Adnan was stabbed to death at Jamalkhan neighbourhood in the port city on Tuesday.

He was a student of Chittagong Collegiate School and lived near the Chittagong Press Club, not far away from the spot where he was killed.
