RAB-3 commander Emranul Hasan told bdnews24.com on Sunday that they identified Mejbah of Comilla Sadar based on the two national ID cards and other information recovered after the raid in the flat on Friday.

The fingerprint information of the suspect was also used in the identification process, the RAB official said.

Emranul said they were bringing Mejbah’s wife, father Enamul Haque, mother Tahmina Akter and a brother to confirm the identity of the body.

Three militant suspects belonging to the banned radical Islamist group were killed in a raid in Dhaka’s West Nakhalparha, close to the PMO.

The elite police force was also trying to identify the two other dead suspects, he added.

The law enforcers started a case at Tejgaon Police Station.

The three suspects belong to banned militant outfit Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh or JMB, the RAB earlier said.

After the post-mortem examinations on Saturday, forensic doctors said the three were shot dead.

The RAB found two pistols, three improvised explosive devices or IEDs, three suicide vests, 14 detonators and explosive gel in the flat.

Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal hailed the intelligence agents for collecting information on the militants.

Asked how a terror den could be set up in Nakhalparha, only a few hundred yards from the Prime Minister’s Office, he told reporters at the Secretariat: “They moved to the flat only a few days before the raid.

“Militants can den anywhere, and there are many houses around the PMO… the question is whether our detectives could trace them. They did, and we could capture the suspects,” he added.
