UPDF leader gunned down in Khagrachhari

UPDF central leader Mithun Chakma has been gunned down in Khagracchari’s Sadar Upazila.

He was shot in the sluice gate area around 12pm on Wednesday, said Sadar Police Station OC Tarek Mahmud Abdul Hannan.

Locals rushed him to Khagracchari Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police were deployed in the area after signs of unrest following the murder.

UPDF Information and Publicity Secretary Bijon Chakma told bdnews24.com that Mithun was abducted from his home in Aparna Chowdhurypara on Wednesday morning.

He could not, however, say who was responsible for the murder.

Police are investigating the situation, said OC Tarek Mahmud.
