The government has promoted 96 additional superintendents of police to the rank of SP, according to a notice issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs on Thursday.
Though the officials have been promoted to the fifth pay grade, they have been told to continue performing the duties of their current post, which means there are currently no vacant positions.
Three of them are currently serving as acting superintendents of police.
They are Police Staff College’s Iqbal Hossain, Dhaka Range Office’s Abul Bashar Talukder and Abdul Mannan Miah of National Telecommunication Monitoring Centre.
