Two die in Rajshahi road crash

Two people have been killed and at least 19 others injured after two buses crashed head-on in Rajshahi’s Godagari.

The incident occurred on the Chapainawabganj-Rajshahi road in front of Matikata College around 7am on Wednesday, said Godagari Police Station OC Hifzul Alam Munshi.
 
The dead have been identified as bus driver’s assistant Shuvo, 28, and Asia Begum, 65.
 
An Akota Transport bus headed from Chapainawabganj to Rajshahi when it crashed head-first into a Hridoy Travels bus headed in the opposite direction. The front of both buses was damaged in the crash and Hridoy Travels bus assistant Shuvo was killed on the spot. Asia later died in hospital.
 
The police and fire service have recovered the wounded and sent them to local hospitals for treatment.
 
Eleven people have been admitted to the Godagari Health Complex and eight have been sent to Rajshahi Medical College Hospital.
 
Two of the victims are in critical condition.
