Suspected robber killed in shootout with police in Dhaka
A suspected robber has been killed in Dhaka city’s Khilgaon area in what police have described as a gunfight.

The gunfight broke out after police reached Sheikher Jaiga in the early hours on Friday on a tip-off that a gang of robbers appeared there to commit robberies, officer-in-charge (OC) of Khilgaon police station Moshiur Rahman told bdnews24.com.
“The robbers opened fire on the policemen forcing them to retaliate. One robber, Billal Hossain, was hit by a bullet during the gunfight while the rest managed to flee the scene,” he said.
The OC said Hossain was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital where doctors declared him dead.
The 45-year-old man was wanted in a number of police cases, according to the OC.
Police later recovered one shotgun and five rounds of bullet from the spot, he added.
