Nelson Jang and Jimmy Zhangh briefed the media at Dhaka Reporters Unity on Wednesday when they accused one Monir Hossain of physically assaulting them.

The two claimed that they run an organisation, New Ways International, in Bangladesh which provides accommodation to bachelors with low budget.

“We rented a seven-storey building owned by Monir at Aftabnagar near Badda to start a hostel there but left it as Monir breached the contract,” said Nelson.

“After we went there on Nov 8 to fetch some of our documents and furniture, Monir’s accomplices assaulted me, my partner Jimmy Zhang and two other employees of our organisation, Nur Mohammad Himel and Mahmudul Hasan Azad.”

Jimmy and Nelson signed a contract for 10 years and moved in August. The monthly rent was set at Tk 500,000. The same amount was given as advance, according to Nur.

Monir did not finish tasks like setting up the garage, gas line, generator in due time so Nelson and Jimmy stopped giving rents. They told Monir to deduct Tk 200,000 from the money earlier given as advance, he said.

“But the house owner charged us Tk 1 million as rents for two months and started false cases against us.”

Badda police OC Kazi Wazed Ali has, however, said: “The Chinese nationals did not pay rents for three months and instead brought allegations of breaching contract against the landlord.”

“A scuffle broke out in front of the house following disputes between the two parties. Police wanted to see their passport and other related documents but they did not show those,” he told bdnews24.com.

The Special Branch of police has been informed about the two Chinese nationals, he added.
