The passenger ‘Alam’ hails from Comilla and landed Dhaka Monday on a Gulf Air flight from Bahrain, said Saidur Rahman, assistant commissioner at Dhaka Custom House.

The detectives had received a tip off that the 45-year-old was smuggling the gold.

The gold bars were found wrapped in a blanket inside his luggage, said the Customs officer.

The bars weigh about 6,700 grams and their estimated market value is around Tk 33.5 million, he added.
