Rajshahi Metropolitan Police Senior Assistant Commissioner Ifte Khayer Alam told bdnews24.com about the rescue of the student and arrest of her 'former husband' on Saturday. Police, earlier, detained his father in Naogaon.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Detective Branch Additional Commissioner Selim Reza said a team of RMP rescued the student at Rayerbagh in the capital around 2pm pursuing information from DMP.

Proctor Lutfor Rahman said the abductors picked her up on a microbus in front of Taposhi Rabeya Hall on Friday morning. Her peers alleged that her 'former husband' had abducted her.

The abducted student's father started a case against six people, including her 'former husband' over the abduction.

Proctor Lutfor said the student married the man from Naogaon in December last year. He is a student of a law college in Dhaka.

The Rajshahi University student divorced her husband in September this year, but he did not accept it, the proctor said.
