Faysal Ahmed Pappu, 22, the fourth suspect in the case, was picked up from the railway tracks at Dewan Hat on Saturday night, Sadarghat Police Station Inspector Ruhul Amin told bdnews24.com.

Amin, the investigating officer of the case, said Pappu directly took part in the killing of Sudipta.

Inspector Amin said they recovered an iron rod, 'one of the murder weapons', from a canal following the information was given by Pappu.

A group of assailants beat to death Sudipta, a former student of Chittagong Government City College and an assistant secretary of BCL's port city unit, at Lalkhanbazar on Oct 6.

Sudipta's friends have blamed the followers of local Awami League leader Didarul Alam Masum for the murder. They said Sudipta was killed for 'criticising the rival faction for the current bad state of Chittagong BCL on the social media'.

Police earlier arrested 'Moktar', Khairul Noor Islam, and Amir Hossain Babu, all known as supporters of Masum, over the murder. Moktar confessed to killing Sudipta, police said.
