One killed in alleged shootout in Brahmanbaria

A man has been killed in an alleged shootout with police in Brahmanbaria’s Kasha Upazila.

The incident occurred in Tighria village in Binauti Union around 2am on Saturday, said local police OC Md Mahiuddin.
 
The dead has yet to be identified, but police say he is a member of a robbery gang.
 
Locals called police and told them that robbers wearing masks had taken up positions on the road near the village, the OC said.
 
“Two teams of police were dispatched to the area. The bandits opened fire and police retaliated. The body of the unidentified bandit was recovered after the shootout.”
 
Four police personnel were injured in the firefight, said OC Mahiuddin.
 
A pipegun, two cartridges, sharp weapons and masks were recovered from the area, he said. Police are preparing to file a case over the incident.
