Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal announced last week that he would visit Myanmar starting Oct 23.

"Myanmar's government invited us. We are preparing to go there. We'll go when they fix a date," he told reporters, who asked him about the visit during a Bangla Academy programme on Tuesday.

Thousands of stateless Rohingyas have been pouring into Bangladesh to escape violence and hunger in Rakhine state of neighbouring Myanmar.

Around 582,000 new arrivals crossed perilous paths over land, river and sea to take refuge in Cox's Bazar district since Myanmar's powerful army began a violent crackdown targeting the Muslim minorities on Aug 25.

When asked about Dhaka's plans for the visit, Kamal said, "We will discuss predefined matters. The border crisis, the ways to manage it …some agreements will be signed on this."

The issue of repatriation of Rohingyas will also be discussed, he said.
