Red Cross, Red Crescent condole Bandarban deaths

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and International Federation of Red Cross (IFRC) have expressed shock and condolences over the death of workers in an accident at Bandarban.

In a statement, the ICRC said nine people have reportedly died and 14 others injured after a relief-laden truck for refugees from Rakhine fell into a roadside ditch near Chakdhala BGB border post in Naikhongcharhi Upazila on Thursday.

The assistance was provided jointly by the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and the ICRC.

Hafiz Ahmed Mazumdar, chairman of the Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and all members of the managing board of Bangladesh Red Crescent Society, IFRC and ICRC representatives expressed sympathy for the families of the deceased and injured workers.

Bangladesh Red Crescent Society and ICRC Bangladesh Delegation are jointly working in Myanmar-Bangladesh border areas to provide humanitarian assistance to displaced families from Rakhine State.
