"I am deeply saddened to learn about the tragic loss of lives and devastation caused by the massive earthquake that struck the Mexico City and its surrounding states,” she said in a message to President Enrique Peña Nieto.

“On behalf of the government and people of Bangladesh, we convey our heartfelt sympathies and deepest condolences for the deceased and the victims of this earthquake and their bereaved families.

“The people of Bangladesh stand by the friendly people of Mexico at this difficult time and pray for their early return to normalcy,” read the message.

"Unfortunately, another earthquake, the strongest one in a century, shook the country in less than two weeks, resulting in fatalities and destruction of properties,” she wrote.

The incident becomes even more depressing as it coincides with the 32nd anniversary of the devastating earthquake that killed thousands in Mexico in 1985, she mentioned in her message.
