Two electrocuted in Joypurhat accident

Two men have been electrocuted in Joypurhat while attempting to provide power to a local event.

The incident occurred in Kalai Upazila’s Telihar village around 9pm on Friday, said local police station chief Nuruzzaman Chowdhury.

The dead have been identified as Shakil Ahmed and Afzal Hossain.

The two had gone to the village to set up decorations for an event, said OC Nuruzzaman. The two became tangled in the wires and were electrocuted as they were trying to set up the power connections.

Attendees took the victims to Kalai Upazila Medical Complex, where doctors declared them dead.
