‘Russell’ had been working for Assistant Sub-Inspector Nazrul Islam and immigration police officer Hosne Ara for the past one year.

The 13-year-old was found hanging from a ceiling fan in the couple’s home at Barbagh on Sunday, according to his employers.

But police did not find any significant wound around his neck, said Mirpur Police ASI Ajit Roy.

“There is a minor cut under the chin. But he does not have the crescent-shaped wound that such victims usually have on their necks.”

Rasel’s body was transferred from the Suhrawardy Hospital to Dhaka Medical College Hospital for autopsy on Sunday evening, he said.

Hosne Ara found him hanging with a long scarf around his neck, after she returned to their sixth floor flat, said ASI Nazrul.

She had taken their 13-year-old son to a dentist in Mirpur-14, and left five-year-old son Fahim in the house with Rasel, he told bdnews24.com.

No-one answered the door for a long time when she returned, but Fahim eventually opened the door, he said.

The boy was declared dead by doctors in hospital.

But Rasel’s father Rafikul Islam alleged that his son was murdered. “They have not paid him anything in the last one year.”

He had run away to his village once but Nazrul’s sister ‘Fahima’, who had hired him for the couple, forced him to return to their service in Dhaka, he said.

The younger among two siblings, Rasel was put to work to meet the family’s needs, said his farmer father.
