Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal Judge Ziaur Rahman gave the verdict with the guilty present in court on Monday.

Munira Begum, the 22-year-old victim, was killed after being gang-raped in a corn field in Shibganj Upazila in 2014.

The convicts are Jibon aka Babu, 20, Md Ketab, 35, Nurul Islam, 30, Alamgir Hossain, 36, and Jenarul Daktar, 35.

The case details mention that Munira Begum came to the village after her marriage to a man, named only as Rojbul.

Munira became involved in an extramarital affair with Jibon in the absence of her husband who was employed outside the district, according to the case details.

The victim left her husband’s home with Jibon who took her to a corn field in Chhut Airamari village around 10:30pm. He and the other men who were in the field took turns in raping her and dumped her body in the field.

Police recovered the body the next morning. Sulekha Begum, the victim’s mother, filed the case with Shibganj Police.

Eleven were originally accused in the charge sheet submitted by SI Abul Kalam Azad in 2015.

The court acquitted six people of the charges on Monday, said state counsel Anjuman Ara.
