Dhaka University student drowns in hall pond
A Dhaka University student has died after drowning in the Shahid Sergeant Zahurul Haq Hall pond.

The student was identified as Nuruddin Jony, a first-year student of the Department of Applied Chemistry and Chemical Engineering, who hails from Noakhali.
Jony drowned around 10:30 am on Monday, said Dhaka University Acting Proctor Prof Amjad Ali.
He had gone swimming in the pond with his friend Mashiur Rahman when he suddenly went underwater, the university official told bdnews24.com. Hearing Rahman’s cries, others from the Hall rushed to the pond. Jony, however, could not be found.
The body was recovered later on by a fire service diving squad.
