Fire Service control room official Mahmud Hasan said the warehouse caught fire around 12:40am on Sunday.

Fourteen units of the firefighters were trying to tame the blazes, he said.

The fire was 'almost under control' sometime after 3pm, Hasan said, adding, "It won't spread out."

No casualties have been reported. The Fire Service official could not say immediately what caused the fire.

He first said the warehouse belongs to the National Institute of Diseases of the Chest and Hospital (NIDCH).

But locals said the tin-roofed warehouse was of the Directorate General of Family Planning.

Asked about the matter, Hasan said he was not certain who was using the building.
