Hearing a petition filed by two associations of leather traders, Chamber Judge Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain stayed the order until Thursday and forwarded the case to the regular bench of the Appellate Division on Sunday.

Lawyers Sheikh Fazle Noor Taposh and Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury stood for the petitioners.

Mehedi Hasan told the media that the Appellate Division would hear the case on Thursday.

After hearing the supplementary petition filed by Human Rights and Peace for Bangladesh, a High Court bench on Mar 2 ordered the 154 tanneries to submit the money to the national exchequer.

Four days later, another High Court bench ordered to shut down all tanneries in Hazaribagh and asked the government to cut off their power, gas and water connections.

The tanners challenged the order in the Appellate Division which upheld the High Court order.
