Police on Friday sought total 15 days of remand of the couple in two cases - one under anti-terrorism act and the other under arms act.

Chittagong Judicial Magistrate Hossain Muhammad Reza heard the petitions and issued the remand orders - seven days in the anti-terrorism case and five days in the arms case.

Sitakunda Police Station Inspector Mahbub Milky told bdnews24.com that the couple were produced before the court during the hearing.

The couple, identified as 'Jashim' and 'Arjina', were arrested during a raid on a house, 'Sadhon Kutir', at Namar Bazar Ward of Sitakunda municipality on Wednesday.

Police raided the house after the landlord, finding that Jashim's national ID card was fake, informed the law enforcers.

The following information was given by the couple; police raided a house at Premtala in Sitakunda on Thursday. The 19-hour raid on the house, 'Chhayaneer', ended with death of two militant suspects in a suicide blast while two others were shot dead in anti-terrorism unit’s assault, police said.

The four include a woman and two 'bomb experts' of Neo-JMB, according to the law enforcers.

Jashim and Arjina have also been accused in two cases filed over the raid on 'Chhayaneer'.

Jashim and two of the militants killed in the strike on Thursday are relatives, police believe.
