A bogey of Jamuna Express derailed around 7am Friday, said Joydebpur Rail Junction's Station Master Shahidul Islam.

The train was headed to Dhaka from Jamalpur.

Shahidul said: "The carriage’s axle box got overheated which is why it fell off tracks. However, the train left behind the carriage and continued its journey to Dhaka."

"Track-1 and 2 of the Dhaka-Mymensingh route are currently blocked but Track-3 is open for trains heading to the northern zone from Dhaka," said the station master.

The Jamalpur Commuter and Teesta Express were stuck on the blocked tracks.

Workers of the railway’s engineering department have been sent to the location, he said.
