Rasheda Choudhury new EDAS President, Toufique Khalidi re-elected General Secretary

Former adviser to the caretaker government Rasheda K Choudhury has been elected President of Dhaka University's English Department Alumni Society, while bdnews24.com Editor-in-Chief Toufique Imrose Khalidi will serve as general secretary for a sixth straight term.

Professor Rubina Khan read out the names of the new committee in absence of the chief election commissioner Harun ur Raschid at the end of the 30th anniversary reunion programme at the TSC on Friday.

Outgoing President Wazir Sattar will remain on the new committee as an adviser.

Poet Mohammad Nurul Huda, businessperson Ishtiaq Majid and corporate executive Junaidul Haque are on the committee as vice-presidents.

Prof Rubina Khan has been re-elected treasurer.

The elected members are: advertising industry entrepreneur Ramendu Majumder, Dewan Md Shahryar, former NBR chairman Muhammad Abdul Mazid, businessman Syed Sadaquat Hossain, Shahadat Hossain, Joint Secretary at Education Ministry Md Aminul Islam Khan, the department's Prof Dr Nevin Farida, Director of the Centre for Language Studies at the University of Liberal Arts ATM Sajedul Haque, corporate executive Shahinul Huda Jewel, education ministry official Abdur Razzak Mian, Additional Commissioner, Taxes, Mohammad Rafiqul Islam Chowdhury, commerce ministry Deputy Secretary Abdus Samad Al Azad, banker Nilufar Rahman, Takad Ahmed Chowdhury, corporate executives Akib Javed and Raisul Hasan Evan, Fahim Dad Khan Rupok, and businessperson Sabera Ahmed Koli.
