"The college has been closed to avoid further trouble. Students have been told to vacate dormitories by 4pm," Principal Mohsinuzzaman Chowdhury told bdnews24.com on Wednesday.

However, the examinations would be held as per schedule, he said.

Different accounts have surfaced over identities of those involved in the clash

The principal only said they were 'affiliated with the ruling party'.

Police said second-year students were involved in the clash.

Local police OC Abdur Rab said the clash was an outcome of some previous feud.

According to students, a turf war erupted between two BCL factions late on Tuesday and again on Wednesday morning.

At least 15 persons have been injured in the clashes.

A CMC associate professor, requesting anonymity, said two factions led by second year student ‘Hannan’ and Dr Polash, who graduated from the eighth batch, started the clash.

He said an ongoing conflict between two factions of Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) led to the incident.
