Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Sabbir Yassir Ahsan Chowdhury extended the deadline until Jan 22, said Court Prosecution Division General Recording Officer SI Farid Miah.

This is the third time the police are granted an extension on their report for the attack.

The deadline was earlier shifted from Aug 24 to Oct 23.

Twenty hostages, including 17 foreign nationals, were killed by gunmen who stormed the upscale cafe at Dhaka's diplomatic district on the evening of Jul 1.

Two police officers died in the incident. Next morning, the five militants were killed when the army raided the restaurant.

Police filed a case over the incident at Gulshan Police Station under the Anti-Terrorism Act.
