Badsha elected Dhaka Reporters' Unity president, Nomani general secretary

Sakhawat Hossain Badsha of Daily Inqilab has been elected president and Morsalin Nomani of BSS general secretary in Dhaka Reporters' Unity (DRU) elections held on Wednesday.

bdnews24.com Senior Correspondent Nurul Islam Hasib has been elected member of the DRU executive committee by bagging highest 670 votes among the elected executive committee members.

The members of the Unity cast their votes from 9am to 5pm on Wednesday to elect a 21-member committee for a one-year term. The election was fought individually without forming any panel.

Election Commission Chairman Golam Sarwar announced the results later in the evening.
Badsha, a special correspondent of the Daily Inqilab, bagged 603 votes. His nearest candidate, Bhorer Dak Special Correspondent Mostaque Hossain got 262 votes.
Nomani, a senior correspondent of state-run Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), won the general secretary post by getting 686 votes. His nearest candidate BSS Senior Correspondent Syed Shukur Ali got 414 votes.
ATN Bangla Senior Correspondent Abu Darda Jubayer has been elected vice-president, the Daily Khola Kagoj Senior Correspondent Tofazzel Hossain joint general secretary and the Daily Naya Diganta Correspondent Jilasni Milton organising secretary.
