The move to replace Choudhury Muazzam Ahmed came after much criticism of alleged negligence of duty on the part of the local administration and its failure to prevent the incident.

An order by the Ministry of Public Administration on Sunday removed the official of the 28th Batch of Administration Cadre from the Upazila in Brahmanbarhia and placed him up for his next appointment.

A Facebook post ‘insulting’ Islam led to looting and vandalism of at least 15 temples and more than a hundred Hindu homes at Nasirnagar on Oct 30.

‘Provocative’ remarks were made during a protest demonstration in the presence of UNO Muazzam and officer-in-charge of Nasirnagar police.

The OC too was withdrawn amid a storm of criticism over negligence.

The homes and temples of Hindus in the area came under an arson attack on early Friday despite measures taken to enhance security.
