Bangladesh that pursues ‘friendship to all, malice to none’ foreign policy is a strong believer of the movement which is not formally aligned with any major power bloc.

The Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman first attended the summit in 1973 at Algiers.

Venezuela will host the Sep 17 -18 summit in the island of Margarita when Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina will be visiting Canada en route to New York for UN General Assembly.

Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, briefing journalists on Sunday, said since Hasina would remain busy in Montreal and New York, the state minister would lead Bangladesh delegation at the summit.

He said Shahriar will mention the participation of the Bangabandhu at the fourth summit and would highlight the priority areas of the current government.

He will share Bangladesh’s position on issues relating to global peace, democracy, human rights, rule of law, people’s empowerment, south-south cooperation, challenges of climate change, migration and SDGs.

The international community will be briefed on Bangladesh’s stance on the fight against terrorism and militancy.
