List of countries or organisations standing by Bangladesh after Dhaka terror attack

Global leaders and international bodies have widely condemned the July 1 terrorist attack in a Dhaka café and expressed their solidarity with Bangladesh.

Islamic State (IS) has claimed responsibility for the attack in which 17 foreigners were killed.

They sent condolence messages to the President, the Prime Minister and the Foreign Minister.

The foreign ministry on Tuesday said it had received messages from the following countries or organizations following the terror attack:

1.  India(Indian President to President of Bangladesh and External Affairs Minister to the Foreign Minister)

2. China (message from Chinese President, Prime Minister and Foreign Minister to their Bangladesh counterparts)

3. UK(Queen sent message to President and Prime Minister)

4.  Myanmar(President of Myanmar to Prime Minister)

5.  Malaysia ( Prime Minister to Prime Minister of Bangladesh)

6. Thailand (King to the President, Prime Minister to Prime Minister & Thai Foreign Minister to Foreign Minister of Bangladesh )

7.  Vietnam(President to the President , Prime Minister to the Prime Minister and Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister to Foreign Minister)

8. Nepal (Deputy Prime Minister to Foreign Minister)

9. Sri Lanka (President to Prime Minister)

10. The Apostolic Nunciature (Pope Francis to President and Prime Minister)

11. Kuwait (First Deputy Prime Minister & Foreign Minister to Prime Minister)

12. Maldives (Foreign Minister of Maldives to Foreign Minister of Bangladesh)

13. Bhutan (Prime Minister to Prime Minister)

14. D-8 (Secretary General sent condolence message to Foreign Minister)

15. Commonwealth (Secretary General to Prime Minister)

16. SAARC (Secretary General to Prime Minister, Foreign Minister &  Foreign Secretary )

17. Switzerland (Foreign Minister to Foreign Minister)

18. Permanent Delegation of Nigeria to UNESCO (Permanent Delegation of Bangladesh to UNESCO)

19. Lao PDR (Foreign Minister to Bangladesh Foreign Minister)

20. International Organization for Migration (IOM) (to Prime Minister, Foreign Minister &  Foreign Secretary)

Besides, the foreign ministry said South Korea, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, Indonesia, Russia, Oman, Mexico, Brazil, Belgium, Pakistan, Qatar, Egypt, Denmark, UN Secretary-General, OIC, and the EU had issued statements or press releases.

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe and US Secretary of State John Kerry have phoned the prime minister.

Foreign Minister Abul Hassan Mahmood Ali earlier told Dhaka-based diplomats and international organisations that Bangladesh would work with all in fighting back terrorism.

“Terrorism is a global challenge and Bangladesh will continue to work closely with other countries, regional organisations and the United Nations to fight this menace,” he had said.
