War criminal Motiur Rahman Nizami’s relatives in his ancestral home in Pabna are getting ready to bury the Jamaat-e-Islami chief.
He will be buried at the family graveyard beside a madrasa at Monmothpur village of Dhopadaha union council in Santhia Upazila.
He was hanged in Dhaka Central Jail after Tuesday midnight.
Santhia Police Station OC Nasir Uddin told bdnews24.com around 10pm the graveyard was being cleaned but a grave was yet to be dug.
Nizami’s cousin Abdullah Al Mamun said a place was fixed to dig a grave under police surveillance.
“We are ready,” he said.
Silence has gripped the area ahead of the execution of the former minister. Shops and other institutions in Santhia Bazar, Monmothpur and adjacent areas have been shut since the evening.
Police have strengthened patrol and set up checkposts.
