Journalist Shafik Rehman picked up by 'police detectives'

Journalist Shafik Rehman has been picked up by men claiming to be police detectives from his home in Dhaka's Eskaton, family members have claimed.

His wife Taleya Rehman told bdnews24.com that some men claiming to be police detectives came to their Eskaton home and carried Rehman away on Saturday morning.
 
Taleya is executive director of 'Democracy Watch'.
 
"Some men saying they were from Detective Branch entered our house around 8am and said Shafik have to accompany them," Taleya said.
 
But when contacted, Dhaka Metropolitan Police's Joint Commissioner Krishna Pada Ray said he had 'no knowledge of any such incident'.
 
Shafik Rehman is known to be close to the BNP.
