Cultural worker Rabbi had accused the influential Osman family of Narayanganj after the murder of Twaki three years ago.

A few months later, RAB revealed it had found a pair of blood stained trousers from the office of the then MP AKM Nasim Osman's (now deceased) son Ajmeri's office.

The Osman family has, however, repeatedly denied involvement, claiming that Rabbi, who is close to Mayor Selina Hayat Ivy, has been trying to implicate Ajameri with ulterior motives.

Four years ago, Ivy became the mayor of the Narayanganj City Corporation by defeating Shamin. Rabbi was the coordinator of her election campaign.

RAB is yet to conclude the investigation into this 2013 case. Hearing dates have been repeatedly postponed in the case filed by Twaki's father.

On a hearing on Thursday, Rabbi petitioned to the court of the Additional Senior Judicial Magistrate Ashok Kumar Dutta for Ajmeri's arrest.

But the court gave no immediate order, his lawyer Mahbubur Rahman Masum told bdnews24.com.

Earlier, on Nov 12, 2013, Rabbi had appealed to the court for the arrest of Shamim Osman's nephew, based on the confessional statement of accused Sultan Shawkat Bhromor.

Media reports, quoting Bhromor's confession, said Twaki had been killed on Mar 6 that year in College Road in an attack led by Ajmeri and his body, packed in a bag, had been dumped into the Shitalakkhya River.

"The law enforcing agencies are not arresting Ajmeri, although an accused has given a confessional statement. He is moving about openly with his henchmen and threatening the complainant," said Rabbi.

Rabbi, an organiser of the Ganajagran Mancha, has expressed doubts about ever getting justice.

"The investigation report has not been filed in court, although a long time has passed. This is hindering the execution of justice."

Two persons named Saleh Rahman Simanta and Yusuf Liton are at present in jail in connection with the Twaki murder. Their bail was rejected on Thursday.

Bhromor, who had given a confessional statement and later secured bail from the High Court, has gone into hiding. He is believed to have fled abroad.

Rabbi had filed a case after the body was found in the Shitalakkhya without naming anyone.

Ten days later he wrote to police, accusing seven people, including Shamim Osman and his son Ayan Osman.

Ajmeri's name was added to the list after Bhromor's confession.
