Shaheed Minar ready for Amar Ekushey, people waiting to pay tribute to Language Movement martyrs

The authorities have finished preparations for the people to pay tribute to Language Movement martyrs at the Central Shaheed Minar in Dhaka.

The observance of the Language Movement Day and International Mother Language Day will start with placing flowers at the Shaheed Minar at the first hour of Sunday.
 
Students of Dhaka University’s Faculty of Fine Arts have decorated the streets leading to the Minar.
 
The university’s Ekushey Udjapon Committee head Professor Farid Uddin Ahmed said in the afternoon the preparations were almost complete.
 
He urged everyone to maintain order.
 
Law-enforcing agencies have installed CCTV cameras on the streets around the Minar and blocked traffic.
 
Dhaka Metropolitan Police Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia said they put in place a four-tier security cover in the Shaheed Minar area.
 
“No one will be able to do anything illegal here,” he said.
 
President Md Abdul Hamid, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, ministers, foreign diplomats and VIPs will place flowers at the Shaheed Minar in the first hour.
 
Then the Minar will be open for public.
