But the modalities of reinstating the talk time are yet to be finalised.

BTRC Secretary Md Sarwar Alam told bdnews24.com the directive had been sent to all operators.

Association of Mobile Telecom Operators of Bangladesh (AMTOB) General Secretary Nurul Kabir has confirmed getting it.

“We’ve sought a meeting of the operators and the BTRC on the ways to implement the directive,” he told bdnews24.com.

State Minister for Posts and Telecommunications Tarana Halim had announced earlier this month that subscribers would soon be compensated for dropped calls.

She said the BTRC had been told to monitor talk time dropped and its restoration.

In August last year, at a meeting with the CEOs of the operators, Tarana Halim had set them a two-month deadline to solve the problem amidst a barrage of complaints from the subscribers.

She had instructed the BTRC to weigh the options of paying compensation or restoring talk time for dropped calls.

India’s telecoms regulator recently ordered the country’s mobile phone operators to pay subscribers Rs 1 as compensation for each dropped call.
