‘CSE Carnival’ begins at SUST

The IPvision CSE Carnival 2015, a tech fair for university students, has begun at the Shahjalal University of Science and Technology (SUST).

Writer Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal inaugurated the fair’s fifth edition, organised by the department of computer science and engineering (CSE) in MA Wazed Miah ICT Building on the university campus on Friday morning.

Prof Shahidur Rahman, head of the CSE department, said participants this year will compete in four events: inter-university programming contest, inter-university software contest, project showcasing, and gaming contest.

Altogether 145 teams from 46 universities have signed up for the programming contest, 22 teams from 12 universities for the software contest and 30 teams from 13 universities for project showcasing.

Registration for the gaming competition is still on, said Md Saiful Islam, the ‘carnival’ coordinator.

State Minister for Information and Communications Zunaid Ahmed Palak will attend the closing ceremony on Saturday as the chief guest.
