At least 120 people were killed in attacks by terrorists using guns and bombs in several venues including the national sports stadium and a major concert hall.

Hasina was “deeply shocked” and said to French President Francois Hollande in a message on behalf of Bangladesh: “We are together in our fight against terrorism and violent extremism”.

“Terrorists are terrorists irrespective of their colour, creed or religion and must have no place in any civilized society,” she said in her message, which the foreign ministry released.

Hasina is expected to join the UNESCO meeting in Paris later this week.

“I, along with the people and the government of Bangladesh, strongly condemn these acts of terror and stand in solidarity with the people and the government of France,” she said.

She expressed deepest condolences and prayed for the grieving families and departed souls.
