India handed over the seven-murder prime accused to Bangladesh on Thursday night through the Benapole border.

He was taken to the RAB headquarters on Friday morning and was handed over to the case investigation officer.

Hossain was led to the Narayanganj Police Lines around 8:15am.

“We’ve kept him in the Police Lines after RAB handed him over,” Narayanganj police chief Khandker Mohid Uddin told bdnews24.com. “We’ll produce him before a court later.”

Additional Public Prosecutor KM Fazlur Rahman said Hossain was likely to be produced before the court sometime after 10am.

Police say they will not seek time to interrogate Hossain, as the court has already accepted the chargesheets in two cases filed over last year’s multiple murders.

In that case, the court would likely order the former vice president of the Siddhirganj unit of the Awami League and the councillor of the City’s Ward No. 4, to jail.
