The Gaibandha jail authorities released him around Sunday noon after receiving court documents, Liton's counsel Sirajul Islam Babu said.

Earlier in the day, Sundarganj Cognisance Court's Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Md Moinul Hasan granted the MP interim bail until the end of Parliament session, which begins on Sunday afternoon.

“The court has granted him bail for the time that Parliament is in session,” said Babu.

Fourth-grader Shahadat Hossain Sourav was injured on Oct 2 when Liton allegedly fired at him. His father Shaju Mia filed a case against Liton the next day.

On Oct 8, one Hafizur Rahman filed another case against Liton and nine others accusing them of vandalism and looting. The MP was granted bail in those cases.

Liton moved the High Court on Oct 12 seeking anticipatory bail but his plea was scrapped.

Detectives arrested him from Dhaka’s Uttara two days later and sent him to Gaibandha.
