Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Emdadul Haque granted the questioning after rejecting Jahangir’s bail petition on Saturday.

Investigator Anwar Hossain had sought permission to quiz Jahangir for 10 days, police's prosecution wing official Mirash Uddin told bdnews24.com.

Wang Ming Chi and his wife Li Li Hwa, both citizens of Taiwan, were attacked in their Uttara residence in the early hours of Friday.

Police arrested Jahangir, an employee of the factory owned by the couple, from Savar later in the morning of the same day.

Police said Jahangir and his two brothers-in-law 'Raju' and 'Saju' made off with Tk 600,000 after attacking the couple with sharp weapons.

The two men once worked in the couple's Xin Xing Yang International Company Limited. They had been doing contractual work for the company since they left it.

Dhaka Metropolitan Police Joint Commissioner Monirul Islam attributed the attack to a dispute regarding some 'overdue' payments.

Chi and Hwa have been doing business in Bangladesh for 10 years.

They are now undergoing treatment at the Apollo Hospitals in the capital.

The hospital’s Duty Manager Mafidul Islam said on Saturday that Hwa was out of danger, but Chi was still unconscious.
