Singer Lucky Akhand hospitalised after detection of lung cancer 

Singer Lucky Akhand has been detected with lung cancer.

He was admitted to the Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman Medical University (BSMMU) Hospital on Sep 1, said its director Abdul Majid Bhuiyan.
 
Bhuiyan told bdnews24.com, Akhand has been once given chemotherapy after he was admitted to the hospital.

He has been kept in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU).

Akhand was a rage in the 1980s , when he doubled as singer, lyricist, composer and music director.
 
His first album 'Lucky Akhand' was released by record label Sargam in 1984.
 
"Eoye Neel Monihar", "Amay Deko Na" "Ritiniti Jani Na", "Age Jodi Jantam" and "Sumona" are some songs in this album that made him famous.

After his brother Happy Akhand's death in 1987, Lucky withdrew from the music world.

Then after a decade, he hit the stages again in 1998 with two albums "Porichoy Kobe Hobe" and "Britrishna Jibone Amar".
 
He has been a regular in many live music sessions on television ever since.
