This was the deadliest attack on Gulf Arab troops in the Saudi-led military campaign against Houthi forces.

The incident took place in the oil-producing Marib area of central Yemen near the border with Saudi Arabia, apparently when Houthis rocket fire hit a weapons store at a military camp.

In separate messages to his UAE and Bahrain counterparts, Ali expressed “deepest condolences and heartfelt sympathies” to the bereaved family members and the people of those countries.

“I am sure the supreme sacrifices the martyrs made for the noble cause will be remembered for long” in the Emirates and the Kingdom and beyond, he said.

He reiterated Bangladesh’s support to the efforts undertaken by the Gulf and Arab countries to restore peace and stability as well as to re-establish the legitimate government in Yemen.

He also reaffirmed the government’s commitment to work together for peace and progress for the Muslim Ummah.
