Traffic on Khanjahan Ali Road stopped for around an hour after Tuesday noon after the demonstrators enforced a blockade.

Rakib’s aunt Parul Begum said the agitating people also marched down the street. They lifted the blockade at the request of the police, she said.

Khulna Sadar Police Station OC Sukumar Biswas said the body was handed over to the family.

He could not say anything about the post-mortem examination report.

Khulna Metropolitan Police Commissioner Nibas Chandra Majhi visited Rakib’s family.

He said police would press murder charges in court soon to fast-track the trial.
Khulna Deputy Commissioner Md Mostafa Kamal said he helped the family with Tk 10,000.
Rakib was tortured to death at a motorcycle garage at Tutparha on Monday night. The killers pumped air into the body through his rectum.
Locals caught garage owner ‘Sharif’, his uncle Mintu Mia and his mother Beauty Begum after the incident.
They beat them up before handing them over to the police.
