Jatiya Samajtantrik Dal (JaSaD) MP Moinuddin Khan Badal placed the demand during the Parliament’s budget discussion on Tuesday.

“It is very insulting for us… the way (our trooper) was handcuffed and tied to a tree in violation of all international norms,” he said.

“I appeal for a closed-door meeting in the parliament over the issue. We have something to say.”

Parliament's Rules of Procedure stipulates for ‘closed-door’ meeting, with the approval of the Leader of the House. No one can join the Session without the Speaker’s permission.

In the early morning on June 17, Myanmar’ Border Guard Police (BGP) picked up BGB’s Nayek Abdur Razzak from Teknaf.

The BGB’s Sepoy ‘Biplob’ suffered bullet wounds in the ensuing exchange of fire between the neighbouring border forces.

The foreign ministry summoned Myanmar Ambassador to Bangladesh Myo Myint Than the next day and asked him to immediately return the abducted BGB member.

The BGP in its Facebook page shared two photographs of Razzak, where he was seen handcuffed and blood-strained.

State Minister for Home Affairs Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal has repeatedly said that the government is trying to arrange Razzak’s release.

The parliamentarians were vocal during the budget session over the detention and recovery attempts.

On Monday, Independent MP Haji Selim questioned the competence of the Bangladeshi border forces.
