Indian Army chief takes salute of Bangladesh Military Academy cadets 

Chief of Indian Army General Dalbir Singh has attended the passing-out ceremony of the Bangladesh Military Academy’s (BMA) long course and special course at Bhatiary in Chittagong.

He handed over awards to the outstanding cadets.

He reviewed a smartly turned out parade of 72 BMA Long Course and 43 BMA Special Course on Tuesday, and took salute at the march past as chief guest, said the Inter Services Public Relations Directorate (ISPR).

A total of 134 cadets were commissioned in the Bangladesh Army in this passing-out ceremony. Of them, 127 including 13 female cadets commissioned from the long course, and the rest from the special course.

Battalion Senior Under Officer Asif Ahmed was adjudged the best all-round cadet and was awarded the coveted ‘Sword of Honour’.

He also received the ‘Chief of Army Staff’s (CAS) Gold Medal’ for his outstanding performance in military subjects.

Jahangir Company received the BMA Colour for the Summer Term on the basis of different inter-company competitions.

The cadets formally took oath and were later adorned with the rank badges by their guardians.

Earlier, General Officer Commanding of Army Training and Doctrine Command Lt Gen Sabbir Ahmed, and the Commandant of the Academy Major General Md Jahangir Kabir Talukder received the chief guest on his arrival at the BMA parade ground.

General Singh came to Dhaka on Monday to attend the President’s Parade.

He left Dhaka after attending the ceremony.

Military Secretary to Army Headquarters Major General Anwarul Momen saw him off at BAF Base Bangabandhu. 
 
Indian High Commissioner to Bangladesh Pankaj Saran was also present.
